Core Facility
Brain research is dynamically evolving region of scientific investigations that requires combination of different method approaches as well as studying different subjects: from simple nervous systems of invertebrates to highly organized human brain. To improve the efficiency of the neurobiological research an IHNA RAS Core Facility was organized in 2010.
Research basic directions in the Core Facility
- neurophysiology;
- electrophysiology;
- molecular neurobiology;
- neuromorphology;
- cognitive research with application of non-invasive methods of registration of bio-electric brain activity, polygraphy and eye saccades.
Method list
- Automatic extraction of stand-alone cells or their parts for genetic analysis and molecular biology.
- Mapping of visual cortical area in vertebrates under functional loading.
- Mapping of distributed voltage potential in dendrites together with simultaneous electrophysiological registration of activity.
- Simultaneous monitoring of responses and slice state in the vertebrate brain (local field potentials) for 4 species in automated regime.
- Definition of exosome size from biological liquids.
- Recording of brain activity by non-invasive multi-channel EEG.
- Recording of brain activity by microelectrodes.
- Recording of saccade eye movements.
